Indiana could not keep up with Michigan this past weekend.
Indiana kept the game close in the first half, with the score being 17–7 in favor of Michigan at the end of it. However, Indiana’s confused offense would not score the rest of the game. Griffin Gonzalez reported on Twitter that Indiana, Kansas, and Vanderbilt are the only power five schools that have not beaten another power five school. Power five schools are schools that are in the conferences of Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, or PAC 12. The company of Kansas and Vanderbilt is not a great feeling for the Hoosiers or their fans, and IU needs to leave this party as soon as possible.
Donovan McCulley, Indiana’s true freshman quarterback, has the potential to be a great player in the program but is not ready yet. However, he is the only option at the present time. McCulley had a quarterback rating of 39.4 on 24 attempts. For comparison’s sake, Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara had a quarterback rating of 81.7. @IndianaHQ on Twitter reported that an Indiana wide receiver has not caught a touchdown since week two against Idaho.
As usual this season, the defense played quite well. Holding the #7 team in the country to 29 points is about all a football fan can ask for. If the problematic offense comes along, Indiana will simply start to win more games.
The Hoosiers are back home in Bloomington this weekend to take on Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are 4–5 this year and 1–5 in conference play. Indiana only has three more chances to earn a conference win, and Hoosier nation will be crossing their fingers that this is the week.
